Candace Keach has been principal flutist with The Macon Symphony Orchestra, since 1985. She has been a featured soloist with this orchestra performing the Mozart “Concerto for Flute and Harp”, the Hanson “Serenade”, and the Bach “Brandenburg Concertos # 3 and # 5”. Candace has played flute and piccolo as a free-lance musician with several orchestras in the southeast including The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, The Greenville Symphony Orchestra and The Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. She was a member of The Atlanta Woodwind Quintet and also performed with The Atlanta Boy Choir in concerts throughout Europe and the United States. Candace was principal flutist with The Atlanta Ballet and The Atlanta Chamber Orchestra as well as in the orchestra for “The Phantom of the Opera” at the Fox in Atlanta for two seasons.
Candace graduated from the University of Georgia and continued graduate studies at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. Summer studies included performance opportunities at the American Conservatory of Music at Fontainbleau in France, Ernen Musikdorf in Switzerland, and the Rome Festival Orchestra in Italy. In August 1995 she performed with the University of Georgia Woodwind Quintet in Rotterdam, Holland. Candace also performed at the National Flute Association Conventions in Kansas City, Orlando and New York City.
Candace resides in Atlanta, Georgia where she has been flute instructor at The Lovett School since 1990. She is also currently on the music faculty at Spelman College where she teaches private flute lessons. For the past fifteen years, Candace has been co-director of the “Flutes On Fire” summer workshop for middle school and high school flute students.
Candace is creative director of the SOS Crystal Bowl Choir and is a founding Board Member for the International Sound Therapy Association. She is in great demand as a motivational presenter, leading workshops which introduce the archetypal elements of sound. Her CD, “As Above So Below” is embraced within the healing arts community as well as by mainstream music lovers and her newly-released book, “Crystal Bowl Immersion”, has been eagerly awaited by crystal bowl aficionados.
